While we're waiting to get our RV in for the risers, we're testing everything out on our driveway spending time with the dogs in it and all (the neighbours probably think we're nuts but that's okay we like nuts)

I know this will probably sound a bit like a "whine" list rather than a wish list but I'm a newbie so bear with me:
  • raise the ground clearance on these units
  • better shower sprayer/bathroom surround - every-time I pull it up I think its going to break
  • quieter AC - holy smokes I almost have to yell when it's on
  • storage above the windows and definitely the microwave
  • outside access to storage under the sofa seating area
  • better FM antenna
  • better table system (the notch on the passenger side that holds it in place can be very painful if you hit it with your leg  - anyone modded that particular thing out of there?)

So far the only major complaint:
The microwave started sparking and shut down on us last night the two times we tried, so have a call in to our dealer ArrKann . Wished I could have had just a basic micro so if they can't fix it maybe that's what I'll ask for. I'm not entirely sold on the convection part of it especially having a really hot thing in a light RV.

And just to be fair to everyone who's come before me, and they are a very gifted lot, I'll head over to the modification portion with my list to see what I can find.

If you go to this page and then scroll down a bit, there is a mod to move that round "holder" to the other side towards the back.  We did that after our daughter-in-law cut her leg on it.

We don't ever collapse our table so I just took the thing off and threw it in my parts bin where I can get it if we ever decide to use it again (not likely).

On my 172 the FM antenna on the radio/tv/dvd is basically just a wire comming out back of tv/dvd player.   What I did is I ran a cable from the extra connector on the TV antenna plate and used a butt end connector to connect it to FM antenna wire on the tv.

Down the road am going to look into possibility of removing the dometic air conditioner and put on a Carrier low profile unit.    Helped my brother put one on his 63 airstream and I like that they are only 7.5 inches high on the outside, and seem to be much quieter.

(for those who catch me on it, just corrected my post.  Thought one we installed was a colman, but my brother just corrected me that it was a carrier)

I actually know the answer to something! About your microwave sparking. Mine did that too. Wouldn't do anything but spit sparks at me when I tried to microwave something. Took it to the dealer (one more time) and they took the plate out of their microwave and put it in mine and popped popcorn! No kidding, just put one of your dinner plates in it and forget it. Now mine works like a charm. Just remember to take it out when you use the convection.

I cut my leg on the table thingy too. Knowing me, more than once. Now I just keep the dinette made into a bed.

Hmmm.. weird.  On low, our A/C isn't so loud that we have to shout to be heard.  Its not WHISPER QUIET as Dr Nick Rivera would call it, but it isn't a hurricane either.

I did replace our showerhead some time ago with one I found in an RV Dealer's bargain bin.  Its much better.

Like many of the forum members, I moved the stop on the table to the back of the table so that we're not cutting ourselves on it constantly.

We've been very happy with our micro/convection oven.  No sparks in microwave mode.  Its easy to use and performs very well - I'd like one in our kitchen.

Yes, Its inherent ... RV = Loud AC .... Kinda like the Blank tank monitor.

No problem w/Micro-Convection.

We did a mod to add alittle storage above windows. Many members have.

We never took a shower in ours, but the shower head had a on/off selector which is nice to have.

Agree about storage access doors outside for under dinnette.

We're not big radio listeners unless its baseball, and the TV was "way" to small for us.

We did the table "mod" relocating the 'stop' and try sanding the corners of the table supports too. We then added some stain to them.

Forget about world peace ... imagine using your turn signals

Thanks for all your wonderful links and suggestions I'm making notes and taking measurements. So this is what we've done so far as well we've done a few mods ourselves and will post pictures in the mod topic as soon as I shrink them down a bit.
  • Had the hitch adjusted so we're good to go for now, but we're going to have ArrKaan order the riser kit from Forest River anyway
  • Going to look for a new shower head maybe after the existing one breaks
  • AC  - well okay it's better than being hot Cool
  • Saw some great mod ideas for the window and microwave (saw a beautiful cabinet someone put in over the front side but maybe in my next life I'll be a cabinet maker)
  • Going to look at adding a 2x4 frame system to strengthen the sofa and hopefully add something so I can hold it up while I'm under there. Sticks work for now!
  • Thinking of replacing the TV system anyway so will look at the FM system later
  • Ditching the table and may only transport it for sleeping if I need it otherwise I'll stow it possibly without the legs and yes I tossed that holder thing
Looking for a good stain to cover those wood braces under the table. Any hints from those who've done it?
