I just came home with my 3 month old, 2018 - 189...it is the one my wife and self decided upon , in our
recently retired status...to use to tour UTAH, WYOMING, AND MONTANA next springtime.
I found it on Craigslist and purchased it out the door for 12 grand...it had only been used for 4 nights in Sante Fe and a couple in Austin, Tx...
We decided on the 189 because we both like to read and this model had the big, comfy couch to relax in after nightfall with our books.  We are both new to RV living and are now doing lots of research thru used RV books available online.  Anyone with viable tips or recommendations about really good places to hook-up in the aforementioned states...we would be happy to hear your input.  We removed all the nerdy
forest river stickers off our trailer...much cleaner lines now....What about using a generator ?  what size,  how small a unit can meet our needs ?...Anybody got a thought ?

Welcome.  Genset size is really a matter of how you plan to camp.  I'm not a big boondocker and I have a Generac 2K which meets all my needs.  There are numerous good 2Ks on the market.  If you want to be self contained and off power, I would suggest you go 3K or matched 2Ks like Honda has.  I have a Stromberg Carlson generator rack on the front A frame that conveniently carries my 2K.

I never heard of the generator platform you mentioned...a cool, practical solution for generator transport...went to the website and read up on it.  Thanks for the idea.

Hey Marwayne,

Not noticeable.  rack is mounted well to frame, 2k is relatively quiet and I do tie it down.

Cookie,

When not carrying genset I use to carry other stuff, like a ladder or a cooler, it's handy.
