I was preparing our 178 for winterizing and the water pump is dead. No light on the switch on the switch plate (Water Heater Light next to it works fine when I switch the WH on). The other item that probably pertains to this is the #1 blade fuse keeps burning out. It says MP next to the fuse slot..I can't even find what MP is except a guess of Master Pump.
One other thing, when I push the "battery" status light, or any other button for the fresh and black water tanks, the all light up for a second and then all go out. I've called the dealer twice but they don't seem to be interested in returning calls. I took the switch plate off and does not appear to be any stray wires, nothing burnt etc.. Any ideas will help. I'm not sure where to start looking if it is a short or defective switch or defective pump. All worked fine within the last month.. By the way, the dealer is 300 miles away. I'll take any advice. Thanks, Doug Stoltz

MP is "monitor Panel". You have a short in the wiring to the panel is my guess. If the fuse blows when you turn on the water pump, the short is between the switch and the pump.. my guess is at the pump. On most 178's the pump is under the sink, mounted to the floor, remove the left kick panel, 4 screws. Check for power and continuity at the pump connections.

Thank you for your response. I believe you can get me back in business. I took the panel front off and there is one white wire no connected to anything ,one one end, and I believe it's on the power spade at the switch.
There is no obvious wire to connect it to, as all of the crimp connectors look full. This white wire splits at the back of the switch to power the small LED light when on. This is where it gets strange. with the switch OFF i read 12+v on the center spade and around 2.4v on the power spade..I can't begin to figure out what I have. Thursday I will install a new switch before trying anything more difficult. http://screencast.com/t/pJBLYhwcEPj thanks again, Doug

I just wanted to follow up. I was getting strange reading out of the switch terminals , so I bought a new switch and transferred the switch wires. I still don't know what the white, unattached wire is, but the pump now works. I'll try to get a schematic for the panel wiring somewhere to be sure.
Furpod, I just want to thank you again for posting on my problem. Guys like you save guys like me a ton of worry, time and money. Have a Happy Thanksgiving |
