Picked up our first RV (R Pod-178) a month ago. My wife is interested in hanging a curtain across the sleeping area (queen bed) to provide privacy from the rest of the camper.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I was thinking that I might mount a retractable wire, like the kind you see in hotel room showers for hanging clothes, to the wall on one side and the receiver on the other. Since I have never owned an RV before I am wondering how folks mount/adhere items to walls that probably have very little framing. It needs to be secure and screws into a frame for this to work.

Thanks!
Steve

Firstly welcome to the 178 and to Podding.  We're glad to have you out there with us all enjoying your Pod.

A few common things folks will use when mounting

  • Command Hooks/3m Tape
  • Velcro
  • Hardware for picture hanging kits
  • and simple enough small screws
As long as you aren't hanging super heavy things the wallboard holds mounting hardware rather well.

For your privacy curtain idea you might look at a track like the one in the shower to go across the ceiling.  I've seen folks make privacy things like that but can't say I really paid much attention to how they hung and mounted them.

I hope we'll see more of you as you get to know your Pod better!

Welcome!  I too made a curtain (though since then have realized we really don't needed it) but just used a tension rod to hold it in place - however, I have a 171 not a 178 so that may not do for you. I also made a 'curtain' to keep the dogs off the bed when we are not there by mounting small command hooks (for all four corners) and sewing button holes in those corners so it holds it tight so they can't slip under it.  I also use this to keep them out of the hall at night so we don't step on them when visiting the bathroom.  Maybe this will give you some ideas.
