Hi, new owner here of a 2014 Rpod 178. We keep getting different responses from the dealer re: generators. What do we (really) need to occasionally run the a/c in Summer? The unit has a 13,500 btu AC + a convection microwave. We tend to camp at more primitive campgrounds (no hookups) so we feel that at least one generator is necessary. Will a 2000 Honda suffice? many thanks

The answer is It will not run the AC. The 2000 will do a great job for everything else. I have one and it works great, very quiet I've had it for 5 years, change oil every 20 to 30 hrs no other work needed. Use Stabil or some other additive for the gas.

well.. part of the reason you get different answers is.. experiences differ. We have a hard start capacitor in ours, and I assure you a Honda 2000i HAS started and run our a/c. Buddy has the whole setup. used his for a test.. That said, I am not planing on buying a Honda 2000i. We will buy a Yamaha 2400 inverter. Reports are 100% on it starting the a/c, with no cap change.

I ran my AC with the Honda 2000i with no problem. I think you have to know how to start it. When I bought the pod the dealer told me that the AC was 11000 BTU, he was wrong. I have since removed the AC and low and behold the tag said 13500 BTU.
