Just picked up our 2014 Hood River Edition R Pod-178. Spent the night and super excited about this
RV. This is our first RV. We chose the R-Pod because we did not want a large RV. We wanted something manageable to tow behind our Honda Ridgeline which has a towing capacity of 5000 pounds. The other reason why we purchased the R-Pod was because of its quality and it had many of the things that we wanted in an RV at the right price point. I spent a lot of time in the preceding weeks going through the forums and especially how everyone is modifying their R-Pods. I want to tell everyone that it’s obvious that Forest River is listening to their customers. Most of the modifications that I have seen posted on this site are now built into this model. This RV is full loaded with all of the options but is really cool is that it also has a port to plug in an optional solar panel. The Hood River Edition came with the raised option and the knobby tires to allow folks like me who are in the Pacific Northwest to get out into some of the remote places we have. It also has the convection microwave and g-dome. We can’t wait to participate in the Pacific Northwest outings with the local group! Steve and Jackie |

Wonderful to have you folks as new Podders and so happy to see you're enjoying and using the forums.
There is a wealth of knowledge here over all the years! But we all still love talking Pods so all questions are good ones!

Welcome to the RPod community. I am also a newbie from the Pacific Northwest. We picked up our 177 in March in Salem OR. You are correct about a lot of the mods on this forum having been incorporated by Forest River. We are pleased with that. However, I have made the following mods, mostly found in this forum:
1. Wooden cover over the cook top with a cutting board screwed on the top. Increases counter space, especially when doing dishes. 2. Put up lots of hooks: for hats, towels, keys, storage hammock, sink cover, etc... 3. Put a mirror on the bathroom door, outside. What good is a bathroom without a mirror? Especially for the fairer sex? 4. Converted unused space under the settee that has the DC panel to storage space with a hinged top. 5. Hung some Elfa Door and Wall Rack components for extra storage. One on the back of the bathroom door, and one in the kitchen. Happy RPodding. |
