This is our favorite place to stay. Enota north of Helen GA. It is a green camping area, primitive to full hook up it. Our favorite part that we have not found anywhere else is you can camp next to the stream and nothing beats the sound of the water. We have tent camped for years as I hiked the AT in that area and then have camped in the pod. Helen is say 10-15 minutes away. Hiking, trout fishing and tons of stuff to do. Our spots have been pretty level, only using 1 board to even out but we have seen some spots with big rigs that were not the greatest. It is a very laid back atmosphere and in the fall they have hay rides bon fires and misc activities. The also have 3 or 4 water falls with in a short distance. Bathroom are pretty darn clean but have been there after some through hikers left it a mess but when got back that night was clean.
http://www.enota.com/ Our second fav is Playa Del Rio down by Perdido Key in Fl. It was small and almost like a family get together feeling. The cleanest bathroom ever. And the gulf is right across the street. Not a lot except a great place to stay on the beach and wonderful people running the place. About 20 minutes from the Pensacola Air Force Museum and if you go Wednesday you can watch the Blue Angels practice for free. Then you have Fort Morgan the other way and all kinds of food in the middle. |
