A gorgeous heavily wooded campground with around 100 sites, only about 1/4 of them with electricity. One of the prettiest state parks we've camped in. Lots of hiking/biking/horse trails, a marina, beach access, and visitor center. A modern shower building, and pit toilets scattered around the campground. No WiFi, but your cell phone will work OK here. Firewood and ice available in the park. The closest town is about 10 minutes away, but no grocery store there. There is a golf course adjacent to the park, but I'm not a golfer and not sure if it's open to the public or not.
The park is located on the Niagara Escarpment and has many limestone cliffs. Hiking trails take you by the cliffs, the old lime kiln ruins, and Indian mounds depicting panthers and buffalo. Some of the trails near the cliffs can be challenging. There's several picnic areas within the park, one designated for pets. There's also a playground and a tower you can climb up for a panoramic view of the lake. Lake Winnebago is pretty large and fairly shallow. Fishing is pretty good, they say, and you'll be furnished with some pretty detailed instructions on types of fish and techniques to catch them, as well as a "navigation map" of the lake when you check in.
