This is a beautiful, heavily wooded park. There's an older campground close to the beach, and a newer campground farther back, but closer to the showers. They have a mile of beach on the Straits of Mackinac on Lake Huron, where you can sit and watch the freighters go by, or watch the cruising sailors as they come and go from the nearby port Rogers City. Take your bikes, you can ride 2 1/2 miles west to Forty Mile Point Lighthouse park, or 4 miles east to Rogers City, all on paved paths. The path between the park and Rogers City is one of the best we've ever been on; it follows right along the shore of Lake Huron in spots, goes through some beautiful woods and parks, and then right into town, with many places along the way with picnic tables for you to stop and take a break. There's also a bark mulch self guided interpretive spur trail along the way where you can learn about the flora and fauna. Lots of geocaches in the park and along the trail if you're into that. The quarry is right in town, where you can watch the freighters come and go too. Anything you might need is available in town. Try locally famous Plath's Smoked Meats for some groceries for the grill, or grab yourself a lemonade slushy at the harbor pavillion grill.
