I added custom made storage boxes under the Couch,

And made a skirt to hide them.

Thank you. Smile

Kotasnana, if there is a gap there it would work on the 175 sofa too. That additional 8” makes a big difference.

HuronSailor, I really enjoy sewing and as for PhotoShop I can’t get enough of it.

I can give myself more hair and take off a few pounds and no one is any wiser.

Excellent post, great photos. Obviously you have some upholstery experience (and Photoshop experience too, I'll bet). Nicely done.

Thank You.
The cushions store perfectly behind the couch.

Nicely done.  Do they store behind the couch when it's upright?

Great job on the cushions.  I'm sure others will appreciate you sharing your ideas.

I love our 173 and look forward to getting it just the way I want it.

The first thing I noticed was the gap between the back of the R-Pod and top of the couch when in the sleeping position. I wanted to turn this into additional sleeping space. The distance varied from 6” to 8”.

I put a long piece of white paper under the top of the couch and traced it.

Here's my pattern

I decided to make two cushions for manageability. I traced the pattern onto 4" dense foam which I cut with an electric knife.

I added 2" memory foam.

I covered the foam with quilt batting

Next I made a pattern to cover the cushions.
One end of each cushion is 6" wide and  the other is 8" wide.

Finished covers.

On to a removable outer cover
I surged the edges so my material wouldn't fray.

Adding zippers.

Finished slipcovers

Ready for the R-Pod

Now our RP173 has a 48 inch wide couch/bed!
