Our bathroom fan trim kept breaking at the screw attachments so as I dd not want to buy another and maybe have the same thing happen I decided to rework some surplus oak flooring into a mitred frame rebated on the hidden side to accept a trimmed down flange. Seems to work..

Nice job. Are you able to take the screen out for cleaning? Someone in here said it is designed with a little tab to pull out?

Screen removal is unaffected. If you look at the attached picture you should be able to make out the tab that is provided to assist. It is held in extremely tight and I would not want to do it in cold northern weather as it feels that it might break. If you are careful you should be able to start pulling it away starting at the tab.

Yes Kingskerwell. The little tab on the edge of the screen can be used to pull the screen off. After cleaning it pops back in place. It might seem as if it will break, but it won't. Must be designed that way.
