If I plug into a friend's house(He has a 30-amp hook-up), Can I connect another 29-foot cord, to extend the existing one twice as long, or will "voltage drop" be a problem?

as long as you use a extension cord made for an RV, you will be fine. Make sure this "30 amp" connection is 120v and not 240v..
