We have just returned from a week long stay at Raccoon Mountain Campground. At first, I was very unhappy because we were in one of their standard sites. Too small and too close. We moved to a premium, cost just a little over $30, and was happier. The CG has a cave on site, go carts to ride, and a workout room. Full hookups include water, electric, sewer, and cable tv. This is not the best CG where we have stayed, but it was ok.
Other campgrounds that we checked out:
Charles Frost county park--a very nice park on a Lake Chickamauga. The sites are very close and have a no reservation policy. Very clean.
Nickajack Lake parks:
Marion County park--very unorganized looking. Campers parked in every direction. Did not see a bath house.
Shellmound CG--uneven sites, not all water/electric. Husband said more like a fish camp site.
I am sure that there are many more campgrounds in the area. We would like to hear of others since we will be returning to the area.
Lots of things to do and see in the area:
Ruby Falls--in a cave
Rock City---lots of walking
Lookout Mountain--challenging ride in car to the top
Incline railroad
Chickamauga Battlefield driving tour--audio tour via cell phone (nice) two to three hour tour Downtown Chattanooga--has a riverwalk
I am sure there are many more things to do. We just did not have time.

There are two KOA's in the area. We stayed at the one right outside of Trenton Ga off I-24. Very quite and has a huge pool. About a 20 min ride into downtown. Stayed there three nights last summer on the way home from Pigeon Forge Tn. This year we will stay in the KOA just off I-75 right across the TN/Ga. line. The TN Aquarium is a sight to behold, housed in two huge buildings. This time we also plan on taking the river boat cruise.
Even buildings do not want to mess with Adeliza. Sevierville Tn. First three photos TN Aquarium.

The campground in Trenton was damaged badly by the last round of tornadoes; call before you go back to see if they are even open. The 2012 Roundup would be a great idea in this area with so much to do around Chatanooga. I will check on the availability of campgrounds.
