As a new owner of an RP-176 we've experienced several problems with the multifunction radio. First it would not power up, despite having power, which mysteriously fixed itself. Now it will not read a CD or DVD. Has anyone else experienced similar issues, and if so can the current issue be fixed without a long trip to the dealer?

We have an RPOD 176 and we have not experienced that issue. Maybe you can cycle the power?

Contact AudioVox, the manufacturer of the TV/DVD player, ASAP. The warranty period is quite short (90 days? I don't remember) on the unit and if there's a problem, you'll want them to be aware right away.

Outbound (Craig?) and Xenomad,
The 176 (and 176T) have different A/V from the rest of the floorplans - we get the big 19" TV, a different "head" unit, and separate speakers (ooh)! The manuals list the manufacturer of the combo (head) unit as "Forest River Electronics" - I've not been able to find much info on it. Mine works ok, and I haven't had troubles reading discs. You didn't mention whether you were using "store-bought" discs or "burned-at-home" - though I've used both in ours, historically some brands of media (CD-R/RW and DVD-R/RW) tend to be problematic with some brands of players. I'd verify that it doesn't work with "store-bought" discs before deciding you have a problem, though it sounds as though there might be other issues as well. If it does read "store-bought" discs, you might have to experiment with different brands of media to see what it likes. You'd think those kinds of incompatibilities would be behind us, but I can't speak to the level of sophistication provided by "Forest River Electronics". If it gets working, check my A/V mods here. I have noticed mine is sensitive to low voltages. Also some CD movies will not play. Something about the standard format.
