Best layout for 2 adults, 2 kids? |

We have 2 boys, aged 4 and 6. Looking at the rpods on the lot, I think the 178 looks like the best layout with us on the queen and the 2 kids on the dinette. I'd love to hear from owners what they think after actually camping and using an rpod. So.... what layout for 4?

We have a 182g and absolutely love it. We have two sons, age 6 and 2. The bunk beds are great for the boys, giving each their own sleeping space, and are actually big enough for adults (I'm 6'2" and 200 pounds and I've slept in them comfortably). The dinette becomes a queen and is plenty big for my wife and I. We actually leave the dinette up when I take the pod on hunting trips and my hunting partner and I end up sleeping in the bunks so I don't have to take down the dinette bed every day.
The garage option is great and really expands our storage and outdoor living opportunities. |

Thanks. I think the 182G is bit too big for my 4 door wrangler to pull. I'm actually comparing rpods to the rockwood A122 a-frame. I really think a bathroom would be key though.
With 2 boys, Maybe the bunks are the best option? the 172 is shorter and lighter than even the a-frame pop up. Then for an extra 2' and 400 pounds, I could get the 176 with the slide out kitchen. With a 3500# max tow weight, maybe the 172 is a better option.

I am new to this forum and new to travel trailers. My family has been tenters for years but now want the R-Pod as well. After studying them online and seeing a 178 I am still torn as well. We have 2 small girls, 6 and 3, so thought we wanted bunks, but we were surprised how much we like the 178. We can't decide between the 178, 176, and 182G. My favorite is the 176, but not sure if the bunks will make the pod seem small, although we only plan in sleeping in it more or less. At first we were planning on towing with our Sienna minivan, but I think we will get a Tacoma with towing package to tow it. Keep me posted on what you decide and any more input would be great!

We just ordered one of the "new blue" 172 models today for my family - two adults and two toddlers... And three dogs. Will be a squeeze but we're towing with a Town and Country minivan we want to keep, so went as light as possible. We contacted more than 10 dealers and couldn't find anyone who stocks it since it's apparently not a very popular model, at least out near California. Couchs RVin Ohio offered a great price and were very friendly and responsive. Fortunately a dealer in Arizona matched the price with some extra tacked on for their own transport costs - completely reasonable since we would've had to pay more to transport it ourselves from OH. Ours won't be available until Jan/Feb - something to keep in mind when considering the 172; for us the delay is worth it since it's the model hat works best for us. Best of luck finding the camper that works best for you!

Think the 172 or the 176 would be perfect...I just picked up a used 152 (smaller version of the 172, not made any more)...most of the room taken from the dinette and bunks.
I got it for both my wife and me for traveling, as well as if I want to take my son and son-in-law fishing. Wish I had the more room, but was having too hard a time finding a used 172 or 176 close to my area, or at a price-point I wanted for a first RV. Separate bunks a good idea as they get older...will help avoid a few fights! Good luck! |

I'm 5'10" 240lbs. I can fit in either bunk, and sleep just fine in my 176. My wife sleeps with both toddlers in the bottom bunk sometimes.
We converted our dinette area to a full time queen bed with a memory foam mattress, and made the area underneath a dog kennel. We're really happy with this floorplan so far.

If your still looking, the new 193 is perfect for 4 people (2 adults, 2 kids). With the queen bed for the adults, and the 2 bunks, the kids would have a good set up for sleeping
